The offer is the coach

New Limits Coaching is run by Joe — a former British Army Physical Training Instructor, Commando-trained, now completing a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science and coaching desk-bound professionals from West Virginia.

The background

Eight and a half years in the British Army as a Physical Training Instructor, Commando-trained, taught me one thing: performance under load is an engineering problem, not a motivation problem. The job was keeping people reliable under physical and cognitive strain that would break someone untrained.

I moved into sports science and then into corporate settings, and found the same failure everywhere — capable professionals carrying serious responsibility on a body and brain that were quietly falling apart. The support on offer was a meditation app and a gym discount. New Limits Coaching exists to replace that with something measured, reviewed on a schedule, and adjusted like anything else that matters.

What I saw

People making important decisions on depleted hardware.

In a good military unit, readiness is measured and protected — you don't send someone out in a state you haven't checked. In most professional settings it's the opposite. Directors and partners charging hundreds of dollars an hour run on broken sleep, use caffeine to paper over the afternoon crash, and make expensive calls while running on fumes.

It isn't a discipline problem. The inputs are wrong, and no amount of effort fixes wrong inputs.

Why four pillars

Fixing one thing at a time doesn't work, because performance is a system — the parts pull on each other. The Life-OS covers the four places it breaks:

  • Chronobiology — light, sleep, and caffeine timing that's out of sync with your schedule, which is what most afternoon crashes trace back to.
  • Environmental hygiene — a workspace that taxes your attention all day before you've done any work: clutter, noise, stale air, constant switching.
  • Physical integrity — what hours of sitting and erratic eating do to your body and your energy.
  • Cognitive load — running the day on willpower, which runs out by mid-afternoon, instead of on systems that don't.

Get all four right and the day stops depending on how you feel.

What this isn’t

New Limits Coaching provides performance engineering and lifestyle coaching. Joe is a performance specialist — not a physician, not a physical therapist, not a registered dietitian, not a clinical therapist or life coach. Nothing here is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have a persistent or worsening symptom, speak to a qualified clinician. Get clearance from a physician before starting any new training or nutrition protocol.

How the coaching works

Coaching is asynchronous. You work from a personalized Superhuman docs dashboard, with smart-device data connected through Intervals.icu; your metrics and logs are reviewed once a week; queries and updates get a response within 24 hours on working days. It is not a 24/7 on-demand service, and it is not a substitute for care from a licensed professional.

Month one is not a transformation — it's the start of a process, and anyone selling a 30-day quick fix is selling false hope.

The first week changes nothing on purpose. We establish a baseline: your real sleep, your real workspace load, how the working day actually runs. You can't adjust what you haven't measured.

From there it's methodical — one pillar at a time. Change an input, watch the data, keep what works, move to the next. Each week I send direct notes on what to adjust, before it shows up as a bad day.
